Merry Christmas!! And vacation!!

This is gonna be a random post before I fly off tomorrow morning to Taiwan for two weeks!!!

Christmas is near, Christmas is almost here! My birthday is on Christmas so the whole world celebrates with me. Hahaha. As for this year, I can't wait to experience celebrating my birthday in Taiwan! Yayy!

IMG_4643
Christmas is a time to give and share so what better way to do it than to support a local charity?
I had the chance when I came across United Voice in Mid Valley.
To the right is a fridge magnet, bet you thought it was something else!
Now it's sitting pretty on my fridge. :D

IMG_4648
And then, I also wrote a love letter but sadly, it wasn't for Mr Choe. hahaha.
And the heart shape stickers are just so awesome. :D

IMG_4652
Today, we went to the Taiwan Visitors Association at Wisma Goldhill to get some maps and coupons.
From left, vouchers for FOOD in Taiwan night markets, maps and train access cards.
Yayy! I'm all ready!!

IMG_4162
Must give credit where credit is due. ahhaha.
Mr Choe has been planning this trip for a few months and he came up with an amazing itinerary!

IMG_4653
But when I looked at the itinerary, I actually couldn't understand a thing!
Oh please, now I can't sleep, because I have to learn Mandarin. Haha.

IMG_4613
And what kind of bf doesn't remember to give the gifts he customised and expects his gf to find them herself, unexpectedly? ahahahha.

I guess, I have to go learn Mandarin now in preparation to go to Taiwan tomorrow. Hahahhaa.
Isn't it a little too late? :P

The best caramel custard ... so far

Behold, this is a mouth watering post! If you love caramel custards like me, that is.
But I have never come across a person who outrightly says caramel custard sucks, yet. So I guess this post is for everyone then. Haha.

You are about to discover, the smoothest, softest and most delicious caramel custard in Ipoh!

"Ok I can't wait to hear about it. Where is this place?"

IMG_4454
IMG_4449
Tadaahh! It's a new food place that I tried - Lim Kopi.
Along Jalan Sultan Iskandar, Ipoh.

IMG_4462
IMG_4460
Walking in, you immediately feel like this place is classic.
What with all the hand-painted tiles, wooden interiors and huge mirrors.

More on the interior later, back to the best caramel custard.
I know you're waiting. haha.

IMG_4456
First, it came like this.
This looks very unassuming and I was thinking for a second, "where is the caramel?"

IMG_4457
And then when I dipped my spoon in, the caramel came oozing out! Clever!
This made me feel, "hmm this must be special."
And yes it was! It was heaven in my mouth, my very first bite on.
It was so smooth, so soft and just melts in your mouth. Like, ahhhh~~

IMG_4459
There you have it! The best caramel custard, revealed.
Highly recommended, please go try it. hahaha.

IMG_4447
Actually I ate this before the caramel custard but then the caramel custard was super nice so this was overshadowed. But this was nice as well. For main meal, go for this dry curry noodle, for dessert definitely caramel custard!
It's fun how they gave two pieces of biscuits accompanying our Milo and coffee - so old school.

Speaking of old school, here is where I need to show you their old school and classic interiors.

IMG_4443
They have two similar courtyards like this.
Best enjoyed on a lazy Sunday morning. Hehe.

IMG_4463
I couldn't contain my excitement when I saw this vintage fan, so much that I almost knocked into someone who appeared to be enjoying his morning coffee before he was interrupted. Haha.
Sighh, I took so much trouble to take a picture of a fan. LOL.

IMG_4445
And this windows are awesome - need I say more?

Awesome interiors, relaxing ambience, great food - what more can I ask for a simple breakfast trip? :D

Instagram addict

Hey ya! What are you guys up to lately? With the holidays approaching, where are you going? Heheh. Share with me! I love travel stories!!

Been kinda busy lately with year-end closing and work left to do for the year. However, I have been rather hooked onto Instagram lately!! Thanks to Kareen who forced me to download Instagram into my phone. I was quite hesitant to download another social media app or rather, to maintain another social media account. I am a bit anti-social at times. Hahaha. But since it was a picture posting app, and I love photography, so I thought why not give it a try. And they say, the rest is history.. Haha.

(I know I am very late to get aboard this Instagram bandwagon)

Oh, and I have decided to side with the Instagram purists where Instagram is only for photos taken with mobile phones, not sophisticated cameras or DSLRs or their derivatives. Therefore, all you see are pics taken with my sidekick, the iPhone. Haha.

This post is a compilation of my Instapics thus far. Cos I know some of you don't have Instagram and I would not like to deprive you of my photography. :P :P Enjoy! And leave comments / suggestions / whatever!

Stars, they make me wonder where you are

Feeling a little depressed with all the deaths that had happened recently, in this one year, I turned to Grace Potter & The Nocturnal's song, Stars. I got introduced to this song by Amanda Brown, a contestant on The Voice 2012. I can't stand any more deaths pleaseee, someone save me. I don't really know how to say this, but I do not want to attend any more funerals.

"I can't look at the stars, they make me wonder where you are"

I can't look at your favourite spots around home, they make me wonder where you are. Sometimes when I open the door, I hope I could find you and I could bring you back.

-- I really want to move on --

p/s: Did I tell you my favourites on The Voice 2012 is Melanie Martinez and Amanda Brown? And I also love love love Melanie's photography. I would love to experiment with photography like this!!!

XOXO

HuHot Mongolian Grill

Yo! Today is a holiday! But I am sick... To make up for the fun that I should have basking in the sun, I am blogging, yeah! Hahaha. Oh before that, Happy Deepavali to all my dear friends! I really miss the joyous mood and the food, back in hometown and back when we were in school when everyone could just gather without much considerations. Hahaha.

I was doing some iPhoto housekeeping recently (took me days) and guess what I found, pictures of one of my favourite restaurants when I was in the US, HuHot Mongolian Grill. :D

How brave a Mongolian warrior are you? Let's find out!

IMG_3340
First, take all the noodles and meat you can eat.

IMG_3339
Then, all the vegetables you can take.

IMG_3337
Ultimate test here, how spicy can you go?

I just love mixing and matching the different sauces every time I visit. It's like, you don't have to be a chef to be able to create your own taste. They make it that simple! I always have one part of Peanut sauce as base, and I always top it of with one part Garlic Chilli sauce. That's my personal preference. :)

Then comes the most entertaining part....

IMG_3336
IMG_3338
Line your bowls and watch them do their acrobatic cooking, like a true Mongolian warrior!
Don't be surprised to see flames and balancing acts! Yeah!!

IMG_3341
Lastly, of course, is to tip the brave warriors for cooking your noodles to perfection and for not confusing your carefully-thought-out-bowl-of-noodles with another person's bowl. ahhaha.

Waiting for HuHot to come to Malaysia.! Please, HuHot, can I be the first to know? Hhehehe.
