Raya week - work and food

Hey peeps what did you do during the recent Raya holiday? I hope you had enough rendang!! LOL.
Been quite occupied for the entire week hence a late post this week. :(

Well, a shopping trip at Ikea and a night out with friends at La Risata kick started my Raya holidays!

Saturday night out!

Actually it wasn't a week of real holidays for me as I had work to do in Penang. We were giving training to our new associates, something like a crash course, and I am happy that they took the lessons very well! Phew! I am learning to be a trainer as well. :)

New discovery - Dua Bui laksa at Jelutong.
Laksa for tea after two days of training!

Besides working, I of course had some family time. Pictured here is Mum and latest addition to the family, baby Mag!

Three-month-old cuteness!

Then, managed to spend time with some friends too! But did not get to meet everyone I wanted because I did not have enough time! I definitely need to arrange a trip back to Penang again, some time soon. :)

Chee Wai + iPad = iWai
iWai is now Wayne's assistant, hence another nickname - Huasisstant.
And also, spokesperson for Mun Mun. Please contact him if you want to know how Mun Mun is doing. Haha.

Jessica and her new specs! Looks like a lady boss! But she is indeed a lady boss!

While waiting for Jessica, nah, my bored face. Hahahha.
Oh, if you see the plaster on my left arm, that is from the third HPV vaccination injection.
Remember to take the jab to prevent cervical cancer ok!
The one I took was Gardasil, cost me RM540, because injection service is given free! Muahaha.
Tip: get a friend who works as a doctor in GH, and ask him/her to arrange free injection for you ok!

Dinner at Maa Roy!
Sigh, my friends were being anti-social to me, social to their Whats App friend who were being anti-social to whoever they were with because they were being social to their Whats App friend who were being anti-social to me! (What a mouthful, but you get it right right right? :P)
Tomyam was super good, appetizer (cucumber + sambal) was super duper good that we ordered second helping. Two cucumbers were sacrificed just for us. Hahahhaha.

Just a short three days at home / Penang, then it's time to head back to KL. Time flies when you are having fun!! On the way to KL, we had some fun in Ipoh too.

Had famous white coffee at the original OLDTOWN White Coffee, aka Nam Heong.
This coffee shop is opposite Sun Yin Loong.
*thumbs up*

Came across this shop selling all things shark - baby shark, big shark, shark tail, shark bone and lastly, shark king's crown wtf. Hahaha.
Hmm, not a common sight. Lol.

Then, introducing Funny Mountain soya bean.
It is a drive-thru yo!

See the person taking orders?
So very convenient, just sit in your car and wait to be served!

Finally, our order!

My favourite here - soya bean + leong fun.

Craving for some swiss rolls? Head to JJ Cakes & Swissrolls in Ipoh now!

Presenting, hundreds of a huge variety of flavours!

Ok these swiss rolls are trying to tell you that they are made very fresh. Haha.

Can you believe Nam Heong + Funny Mountain + JJ Swiss Rolls happen in less than two hours? No wonder I feel myself gaining weight!

Apparently, the eating spree continued till KL.
Strawberry and peach pavlova, The Apartment.
This is my first time trying pavlova and I liked it!

Now, BACK to WORK!!!!!

p/s: Planning a trip to Taiwan/Taipei therefore I really need suggestions - places to go, sights to see, food to eat (of course!). Hehhehee. Hope to hear from you peeps ok! And if anyone who is in Taiwan wants to host us, I will be very very glad...! :P

Small steps

Last week was a great week for Mr Choe as he received an award and then was selected as a testimonial speaker at a function at Great Eastern.

First, the award ceremony. Nothing much to say so just post pictures la.

At the event, we were first treated with a harmonica performance.
Was really cool, I have never seen such a long harmonica, Haha. See the one to the right.

Then, on Saturday, Mr Choe was invited to give a speech, sharing his first six months of experience with some 100 people. He gave a sincere account of what he was doing before, what made him change his course of life, like a big ship doing a steer to a less navigated path, what he felt from when he first started until now. I was glad the audience was quite engaged in his speech, giving him some applause and laughter as he went along, good sign! This is his maiden speech in GE and he did a great job!

Caught ya!

Went to Alexis to get Tiramisu after a job well done. Hehe.
(How come I look like I don't have enough sleep? :(( )

People always ask us what made us do what we are doing now. I would only say, we found meaning in this beautiful industry. We speak on behalf of children who need education funds when they grow up, we speak on behalf of families who lost their shelter and food when their breadwinners did not return home, we speak on behalf of old uncles and aunties who still need to work through their golden age and cannot yet depend on their children for income, we speak on behalf of orphans who had to leave their homes and be sent to orphanages for they no longer have families who could provide for them.

No one knows what happens in the future and we surely do not want any of what I have just mentioned to happen to any of us. Therefore, for you who do not want to take this gamble, you know we can help you. :)

It feels good to be recognized in some ways for our efforts, but the real recognition comes from all the clients that have benefited from our service. There's no better feeling than knowing that you have helped and knowing that the person knows it when they say their heartfelt thanks and show their appreciation in various ways. I hope, this is the beginning of many more great things to come! Support a bit, let me hear you say ayeee! Hahahhaa.

Every business has its MISSION, and I BELIEVE in mine.

How to "open" a cheque

Today I will teach you how to "open" a cheque. Haha. Actually, it's how to transform a cheque into cash. This manual is useful so that the next time any bank teller tells you to "open" a cheque, you can act like a pro and not like a jakun like me today! In my mind, I am not even sure whether "open" is the correct term but she used it so I'll just stick with it till someone comes around and tell me the right term ok. *Help!*

The story goes like this: I needed to do a transfer today and I asked the bank to deduct from my account directly then the lady said cannot, I have to do it from my account home branch. But then that's in Penang so it makes no sense to travel back to Penang just to do a transfer. I pressed for alternatives then she said "oh okay, actually if you have cheque, you can "open" the cheque to make it cash." Luckily I brought my cheque book along. *smart* hahaha.

So here's how:

1) Write "CASH" beside "PAY".
2) Write the amount you want beside "RINGGIT MALAYSIA"
3) Then sign at three places on the cheque, as indicated with the pink circles.

Tah dah! Three simple steps and your cheque becomes cash.
Act like a pro the next time someone tells you this! If not, it means I have failed. Hahhaha.
(Maybe you already know this so I'm left as the only jakun who thinks that other people are also jakun. Hahahhaha.)
