From this CNN list of top 10 destinations to celebrate the New Year's, I have been to one. Others have to wait till I have more budget. hahaha.
It started with us watching a video of Taipei 101 fireworks some 2 years ago, after we watched a miserable fireworks display at Queensbay Penang. Then Mr Choe said to me, "let's go watch fireworks at Taipei 101." I said, "when?" He said, "When the world do not end in 2012." Hahha. So we took a gamble, and booked tickets to Taiwan to welcome 2013. Should the world end, we will not see this already. :(( But then, the world didn't end! So we celebrated, in Taipei! Hahhahahaha. (Note: I did not believe in this end-of-the-world crap. It's still too early for the world to end.)
Okok, flashback to how the day first started. On December 31st, 2012, we actually learnt about Chinese history when we visited Sun Yat Sen memorial hall. When everyone was busy preparing for New Year's Eve party, we were actually being history buffs. Haha.
When walking around the memorial hall, I noticed my OOTD matches the Taiwan flag perfectly. ahhahaa.
But Mr Choe said, "You don't have white on your outfit."
With 'da man, the nationalist that changed China and formed Taiwan's political ideology.
Now only I know Sun Yat Sen is the one who led the Chinese revolution against the emperor of China.
I am starting to learn more about my roots. Hahhaa.
Therefore, this guy deserves your salute, please. haha.
Wah I really admire their discipline and focus.
They have to guard and stand without blinking. Ok la, exaggeration. ahha.
Then we watched the change-of-guards ceremony. It occurs every hour. You can go watch it too!
First sight of Taipei 101, from the grounds of Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall.
Then we decided it's time to get food and start camping for the public concert.
Not that I really know the Taiwanese artists who were going to perform, but hell yeah, why not!
Lol.
McDonalds to give us energy to start camping. ahhaa.
We got a really strategic spot where we could see Taipei 101 clearly, without any building blocking us.
So lucky we arrived early!
Rehearsal in progress.
Then, the countdown begins!
They even displayed cute emoticons on Taipei 101. I just love Taiwan. haha.
Then it was six!
The sky was dark already because it's winter now; the sun sets at about 5pm.
Then, it was seven!
The concert begins!
Then it was a sexy lady! Sorry, don't even know her name. Sigh.
Then, it was eight!
Then, it was Shin! (This name I remember, haha).
The guy who sang "One Night in Beijing".
Then, it was nine!
Then, it was ten!! Almost!
Then, it was Aaron Kwok!
Then then then, it's almost time!!! 2013 can't wait any longer! Hahaha.
Excited or not??!!!
Then, the President gave a short speech and wished everyone a Happy New Year!
Then, the first few shots of Taipei 101 fireworks!!
Yayy! 2013 is here!!!
Time for Taiwan. :))
Happy New Year 2013!!
Let's all wish for more and more love in the world!
Then, it's time to head home... (I mean, hotel) ahah.
Everyone walked away from the New Year's Eve celebration with renewed hope and faith that this will be a great year!!
Taiwan, wo ai ni!! I love you!!
I'm so glad the world didn't end after all, so I can experience Taipei 101 celebrations for myself. :D
